Freeport: Last week, the Freeport Town Council approved a plan that includes village traffic calming and protected lanes for cyclists and walkers from Route 1 into the village. New bike paths parallel to Route 1 that connect to the village and schools will also create traffic-free spaces for riders and walkers.
These steps are key for creating a corridor for the Freeport to Yarmouth portion of the Casco Bay Trail, where there is no rail line. Thank you to Town Trail Builder Kim True for her contributions to this effort!
Lewiston/Auburn: Two of our amazing Town Trail Builders have joined the board of the Lewiston Auburn Railroad Committee, putting us in a great place to stay informed about negotiations with CSX regarding the corridor in Lewiston and Lisbon—important for future links to Brunswick and beyond.
