Connectivity

Southern Maine Active Transportation Network

In collaboration with the Eastern Trail Alliance, the Merrymeeting Trailblazers, the Mountain Division Alliance, Portland Trails, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, the Maine Trails Coalition, the East Coast Greenway Alliance, and others, the proposed Casco Bay Trail loop has become part of an emerging regional vision for Southern Maine. This Active Transportation Network would connect Portland with Lewiston-Auburn, Brunswick-Topsham, Augusta, and Bath to the north; Westbrook, Gorham-Windham, Sebago Lake and Fryeburg to the west; and South Portland, Scarborough, Biddeford-Saco, and Kittery to the south.

East Coast Greenway

This Southern Maine Active Transportation network in turn connects with the national East Coast Greenway. In Maine, the East Coast Greenway will include inland and coastal routes from Calais to Kittery. Nationally, the East Coast Greenway continues south to Key West, Florida.
