Connectivity

Connect with trails + transportation.

Maine Active Transportation Arterials

In collaboration with the Eastern Trail Alliance, the Merrymeeting Trailblazers, the Mountain Division Alliance, Portland Trails, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, the Down East Sunrise Trail Coalition, the Maine Trails Coalition, the East Coast Greenway Alliance, and others, the proposed Casco Bay Trail loop has become part of an emerging regional vision for the state. The Maine Active Transportation Arterials network would connect the Casco Bay Trail with inland and coastal routes to Bangor, and on to the Canadian border to the north; Westbrook, Gorham-Windham, Sebago Lake and Fryeburg to the west; and South Portland, Scarborough, Biddeford-Saco, and Kittery to the south.

East Coast Greenway

This Maine Active Transportation Arterials network in turn connects with the national East Coast Greenway. In Maine, the East Coast Greenway will include inland and coastal routes from Calais to Kittery. Nationally, the East Coast Greenway continues south to Key West, Florida.
