February 1, 2024: The Portland Press Herald reports on the Maine Department of Transportation’s planned bus route from Portland to Lewiston. Bike and pedestrian infrastructure like the Casco Bay Trail would complement the bus route and help solve the “last mile” issue, because trails and bike lanes can help people get from bus stops to their final destination. The Maine DOT says that the goal is to start the new bus route in June 2024.
