Maine DOT Submits RAISE Grant Request

February 2024: The Maine Department of Transportation submitted a RAISE grant request to support bike and pedestrian and other infrastructure in the East Deering neighborhood of Portland, the terminus of the Casco Bay Trail. A description of the project is here. The Casco Bay Trail Alliance submitted a letter of support, explaining how the proposed bike and pedestrian infrastructure would connect to the Casco Bay Trail. As the letter explained, the proposed infrastructure improvements would link East Deering to the rest of Portland, and—by connecting to the proposed Casco Bay Trail route—would also transform active transportation for the entire region.
